Ben Leathers BHSI, BE Acc Coach

Owner and Manager of Homelands Equestrian

Ben has worked in many areas and disciplines in the equestrian industry over the last 25 years. Staring out at Wellington Riding in 1988 where he took his BHSAI. Since then he has competed to high levels in Eventing, Show jumping, Showing and Dressage. While freelancing he has trained many Pony Club teams taking them to the PC championships year after year. He has had the great opportunity to train and work with some excellent trainers such as Jane Bartle - Wilson, Yogi Breisner & Judy Harvey with thanks to the ABRS for the scholarship inspiring Ben to complete his training to become a BHSI and a BE Accredited Coach in 2009.


Jo Leathers BHSAI

Jo  started working with  horses on the I.O.W  with an apprenticeship scheme, gaining her BHS Stage I,II, and III and NVQ Levels 1,2, and 3. This gave Jo many years of teaching, riding and competing, for the I.O.W Pony Club and I.O.W Riding club, along with grooming for clients on the British Event circuit. Then Jo moved to West Sussex where she started freelance grooming and looking after private clients horses in competition and cared for them to a high standard. With her experience, dedication and determination to have her own horse and yard, the opportunity to set up Homelands with Ben was a dream come true. Jo has completed her BHSAI and is very much enjoying teaching, and competing her own horse Midas Touch in  dressage and showing.

Jo joined us in January 2012 on an apprenticeship course from Brinsbury College. She joined the Haddon Training course with us to further her knowledge and has passed her Stage 2 in September 2012 with plans to complete her Stage 3 in the future. She always brings a smile to the yard  and works hard to maintain the high standards we set .

Ellie Newcomer-Jones, BHS Stage 2

Ellie joined Homelands in February 2014 and is training as a working pupil with ambition to complete her BHSAI.


Megan Waller,

Megan Joined us in September 2014  after helping out through the summer. She is on our Haddon Training program and is coming along very well.


Lucy Timms,

Lucy joined  the Homelands team in September 2016 and is settling in well. She has also joined  Haddon Training to develop her further.



All of our staff are a real assets to Homelands Equestrian, each with their individual strengths create a strong and effective team.
